Dodge Renaissance Academy is located in Chicago’s New West neighborhood. Enrollment is over four hundred students, grades PreK through eighth. Dodge is a site for the training of future teacher leaders, in partnership with the Academy for Urban School Leadership. Over the course of a school year, Residents (those training to be teachers) work along side Mentor Teachers in a classroom setting. On-going professional development for Mentor Teachers is incorporated into an extended day. This creates a community of learners at all levels.
Our students and programs
Our students have shown significant yearly gains on the ISAT. In math, 79.4% of our students meet or exceed state goals; in reading, 69.7% of our students meet or exceed the goals.
Before and after school programs offer remedial and enrichment opportunities for our students in language arts and math. Other programs include: the Winston and Strawn Mentoring Program, Joffrey Dance, Merit School of Music Choir, the A. R. T. Program, Drumline; sports activities including tackle football, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, tennis, track, softball, and golf.

Dodge Renaissance Academy was President-Elect Barak Obama’s backdrop to unveil his choice for US Secretary of Education. Mr. Arne Duncan, CEO of Chicago Public Schools, was selected to lead our nation’s schools. During the press conference, both discussed the important role that Dodge has played in shaping a vision for the future of education in the United States.
Study Island is a powerful tool to help your child master the state standards and prepare for the ISAT. The program is divided into sections for reading, math, and science. Teachers have posted assignments for their students in Study Island that parallel the content being taught in the classroom. Students may access the Study Island program from any computer that is connected to the Internet. The link is www.studyisland.com.

Mrs. Brown, Mrs. O’Brien, Mr Morris and Mrs Moriaty are undoubtedly great teachers. Great teachers deserve great rewards. Recent praise and recognition has come from Eternity Rose, a company that recognise the value of excellent educators. Our multi-talented, innovative female staff were rewarded with a gold or silver rose, made from real roses grown to perfection. At their peak the rose is sealed and then plated in several layers of 24 karat gold or pure silver. We think they are beautiful token of thanks for all the work they do.
